The Masoneilan 71000 Series single-ported, heavy top-guided control valves are engineered with inherent versatility, making them ideal for a diverse range of heavy-duty process applications, including crude oil refining and gasification units.

In the crude oil refining process, residues, often referred to as ‘bottom-of-the-barrel’ dirty hydrocarbons, are directed to conversion units such as delayed cokers, visbreakers, or flexi-cokers. These contaminated fluids can crystallize and become highly erosive, complicating processing without subsequent quenching. Similar difficulties arise in crude oil upgrading operations that utilize bitumen extracted from tar sands, which may contain entrained sands.

• Streamlined Angle Body Design: The innovative angle body configuration is specifically crafted to minimize and prevent the accumulation of particulates against the valve walls. By reducing changes in fluid momentum, the impact energy of particulates within the flow stream is diminished, thereby prolonging the valve’s lifespan in demanding service conditions.
• Heavy Guided, Hardened Plug Design: The robust plug design of the  Masoneilan 71000 Series features a solid stainless steel base with a hardened surface to resist premature erosion caused by application conditions. When paired with optional flushing connections, the 71000 series effectively mitigates crystallization or coke build-up, utilizing a durable plug capable of overcoming any residual formations when equipped with high-force actuation. The design includes heavy port guiding.
• Corrosion-Resistant Materials: The Masoneilan 71000 Series is suitable for Severe Service Applications, employing materials and construction techniques that comply with ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-1 & MR0103.g. Additionally, stem guiding minimizes trim vibration, enhancing the installed life under severe service conditions.
• Low Emission Certification: By utilizing the Masoneilan Low-E series of low-emission packing, the 71000 series meets ISO 15848 Class A standards and significantly surpasses EPA CLLT requirements of less than 100 ppm.
• Tight Shutoff: The valves adhere to Class IV leakage standards, with high thrust actuation options available to comply with IEC-534-60534-4 and ANSI/FCI 70.2 Class V specifications.
